Technological Retreat: From 1985 through 1989, on KFAI 90.3 & 106.7 FM in MINNEAPOLIS & ST. PAUL, MN., I hosted a radio show called Technological Retreat. From 1:00 AM to 6:00 AM on Sunday night/Monday morning I made Sound Collages, the live layering and mixing of sounds. Some of the material was from record collections, some were field and bridge and building recordings, some original material. Like with any collage the pieces are the medium for creating a new work. I viewed preexisting recordings as the raw material for creating my own sound collages.
